An Independence Day Poem

I won’t pay your taxes

I won’t drink your tea

I won’t fight your wars

And I won’t sail your sea

Because the sea isn’t yours

It’s been there since the beginning

Of time, with no cares

About which side is winning

So take your swords, your guns,

Your bombs, your drones

Your interest rates on

Our school loans

Your sweatshops and

Your prison labor

Your motto of

Exploit thy neighbor

And crucify THEM

On a tree

Be gone!

You’re not the boss of me.

Thank you.  Thank you very much.  (Must be read in the voice of Elvis)
